IGNOU observes Vigilance Awareness Week

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is observing the Vigilance Awareness Week starting from today till 5th November 2011. The observance commenced with the pledge taking ceremony headed by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. M. Aslam at the lawns opposite the VC’s office in the university’s headquarters.

All the directors of 21 schools, heads of divisions, centres, units and all the faculty, employees, staff members participated in the pledge wherein Prof. Aslam emphasised that, “We must take this pledge from heart to curb corruption. Corruption increases not just by accepting bribe but by also making biased decisions.”

The pledge was administered in both Hindi and English by the Registrar and the V-C respectively, who said, “We shall continuously strive to bring about integrity and transparency in all spheres of our activities. We also pledge that we shall work unstintingly for eradication of corruption in all spheres of life. We shall remain vigilant and work towards the growth and reputation of our organization. Through our collective efforts, we shall bring pride to our organizations and provide value based service to our countrymen.”
