Formerly, Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education allowed students to appear for a supplementary test who failed in 1 subject in the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination.
Announcing this change, the Board will now be accepting application forms for the supplementary test until June 14th 2011. As far as the examination schedule is concerned, it will be decided once all the application forms are received by the end of June 14th. Under the new system, students falling in the category of the old as well as the new evaluation system will be able to take the examination. The announcement was made by the Chairman of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, Merwyn D’Souza.
The new system will be a boon for the students who fail in 2 subjects and will not be able to seek admission into the various degree colleges for further studies during the academic session 2011-2012. With the introduction of the new system, students who clear the supplementary test will be able to get enrolled into the various colleges across the state.
The individual higher secondary schools were informed by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education through a circular that was issued on June 7th, 2011.
In another incident, The Goa Board found that there were errors in the calculation of marks in the Class XII examination. The errors can be attributed to the negligence of the school authorities as they failed to follow the administrative procedures of the Board. The Board is sending notices to the schools responsible for miscalculation of marks.
Errors were also found in the marks of internal examination of Class X sent by few schools. These errors were rectified well ahead of time and the schools have assured that the same errors will not be repeated in the mark sheets of Class XII examination.
