Exploring new graduate and postgraduate courses

Since the exam season is coming to an end marking the beginning of results announcement, students must already be getting ready for their next move i.e. admission to higher education courses. For many, engineering programs will be the priority. But, are these choices enough for the millions of pass-outs? No!

Popularity of these courses is high in market and as a result, their eligibility parameters are quite tough. Some students easily get admission in these programs, whereas others may have to compete relentlessly. Earlier, options were limited and hence, thinking beyond these courses would have been difficult. But, the scenario has changed today. There are plenty of new courses being added in the education streams for aspirants. One just needs to be smart and decisive.

Some of the new additions along with brief details are mentioned below. Go through them and then, decide.

Management in international tourism

The two year postgraduate program has been introduced by Thomas Cook in association with the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Gwalior. The course would cost around Rs 3.5 lakh and consists of internship and real-time job experience. On the completion of this course, freshers can apply for a package of Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 a month in the relevant industry.

Fashion media communication

The fashion media communications course at undergraduate level is a fresh addition. This program is offered by Pearl Academy of Fashion at the cost of Rs 90,000 per semester. During this course, candidates will learn the nitty-gritty of fashion design, product types, fashion retail, fashion trends and promoting brands. Before applying for this four-year course, candidates need to complete their Class 12 education. Graduates in this stream will be able to demand a monthly package of Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 in the relevant industry.

Financial services

Introduced by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow, this postgraduate diploma course in management sandwiched with financial services education will cost about Rs 6,00,000. For admission to this program, candidates need to pass CAT/ MAT. After this course is completed, they can look for an initial salary of Rs 4.32 lakh to Rs 6.75 per annum in the market.
