New Delhi: With Delhi University declaring sky high cut-offs this year, many students are taking the help of ECA and sports quota to secure a seat at a better college. With the sports trials already wound up, students are now banking on ECA trials that began today. Colleges under the Delhi University are allowed to reserve up to 5% seats for students who want to apply under the ECA and sports category respectively. However this year, students are stalling two seats at a time as many colleges do not require students to submit their original documents, which had been the trend until last year.
Sunaina Tandon, applying to LSR, as a western music singer said that although she got BCom in Gargi, there are other colleges like LSR, IP College and KMC whose ECA trials are yet to be conducted. She wanted to try them as well before choosing the college. And in case she needs to apply to LSR, she don't need to notify Gargi as they only asked for an attested copy of her certificates and not the originals.
Kavita Sharma, the head of physical education and also in-charge of the ECA admissions at Miranda House, said that this might turn into a problem as the ECA results would be declared only after a week and if students withdraw from colleges they have already taken admission in, seats might go empty.
