U P Board of High School and Intermediate Education was the first Board set up in 1921. It has under its jurisdiction Rajputana, Central India and Gwalior. In response to the representation made by the Government of United Provinces, the then Government of India suggested to set up a joint Board in 1929 for all the areas which was named as the ‘ Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana. This included Ajmer, Merwara, Central India and Gwalior.

CBSE exams: Delhi, Allahabad top in cheating cases

NEW DELHI: The pass percentage in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 board exam has gone up, but so has the number of cheating cases - up from 49 to 58 this year with Delhi and Allahabad 'topping' the list.

The CBSE Class 12 board exam results were declared for the Delhi, Guwahati and Allahabad zones at 10 a.m. on Friday. In the Ajmer, Chennai and Panchkula regions, the results were declared on Wednesday.

According to CBSE spokesperson Rama Sharma, there had been an increase in the "unfair means" cases since last year.

"This year the number of unfair means cases was 58. Last year it was 49," the spokesperson said.

Of the 58, 16 cases of cheating each were reported from Delhi and Allahabad. There were 14 cases from the Panchkula region, five from Ajmer, four from Chennai and three from Guwahati.

This year, 637,578 students - 264,248 female and 373,330 male candidates - took the Class 12 board exams in the country and abroad.

The overall pass percentage - at 81 percent - recorded a marginal increase of 0.09 percent over last year. Girls have done better than boys with the pass percentage at 85.94 percent as compared to 77.40 percent for boys.
