New Delhi: Delhi University colleges have witnessed a weak response to the OBC-only sixth cutoff list and are already getting ready for the seventh list to be notified on July 17.
While Hindu College admitted nine OBC candidates on Friday, the first day of the sixth list admissions, it still has 20 more seats to be filled up.
Anju Srivastava media coordinator, Hindu College said that except BCom (H) where there are just four seats unfilled, they have given the full 10% relaxation in the OBC cutoff for the rest of the courses. But, now they might have to continue admission in the seventh list, giving 10% relaxation in BCom (H), too, if the seats are not filled up by tomorrow. Going by the trend, it is unlikely that all the seats will be filled up in the sixth list.
Kirori Mal College, one of the few colleges to fill up most of the OBC seats by the end of the fifth cutoff, admitted three OBC aspirants on Friday.
Ajay Aggarwal, an admission official said that admissions are open in history (H), physics (H), chemistry (H) and BSc physical sciences. Full 10% relaxation has been given to the OBC candidates and 10-odd seats are still to be filled up. Since the college authority can't convert the seats as per the university directives, they might have to keep the admission open in the seventh list as well.
At off-campus colleges, too, the admission has been slow. Dayal Singh admitted three and Gargi College, which has also filled up most of its OBC seats, admitted two OBC students on Friday.
Gargi College principal Meera Ramachandran said that in 80% of the courses, they gave 10% relaxation to the OBC aspirants right from the third cutoff list.
And now it is full 10% in all courses and hopefully all the seats will be filled up, if not in the sixth, then in the seventh, she added.
But colleges like Shaheed Bhagat Singh College over 150 OBC seats are still unfilled.
