LeRoy Nosbaum Engineering Scholarship Program 2011 at Itron Inc. in USA
Introduction : Itron, Inc. has established a scholarship program to assist future engineers who plan to continue their education in college and accept a paid internship with the company. Renewable scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at one of a number of selected institutions in the United States. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a division of Scholarship America. Scholarship Management Services is the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations and individuals. Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, disability or national origin.
Eligibility : Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
Students must be classified as third or fourth year students for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Be pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or computer software engineering.
Be enrolled in full-time undergraduate study at one of the following universities for the entire 2011-2012 academic year:
o Clemson University
o Eastern Washington University, Cheney
o Minnesota State University, Mankato
o North Carolina Agriculture & Technology State University
o North Carolina State University
o University of California, Berkeley
o Washington State University, Pullman
Accept a paid internship at an Itron, Inc. research and development location. (Students who do not accept or do not complete the internship with Itron, Inc. will immediately forfeit their LeRoy Nosbaum Engineering Scholarship.)
Awards : Up to fifteen (15) awards of $5,000 will be granted in 2011. Awards may be renewed one additional year or until a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, is earned, whichever occurs first. Renewal is contingent upon satisfactory academic performance in a full-time course of study in a required major. Awards are for undergraduate study only.
Application Procedure : Interested students must complete the application and mail it along with a current, complete transcript of grades and any other required documents to Scholarship Management Services postmarked no later than March 22. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which each course was taken. Applicants are responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary information. Applications are evaluated on the information supplied; therefore, answer all questions as completely as possible. Incomplete applications will not be evaluated. All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by Scholarship Management Services and Itron.
Selection Procedure : Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need is not considered. Scholarship Management Services will verify potential recipients are clear with Homeland Security and the Patriot Act. Scholarship Management Services will select up to 24 finalists, and Itron will select recipients. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Applicants will be notified in May. Not all applicants to the program will be selected as recipients.
Payment of Scholarships : Scholarship Management Services processes scholarship payments on behalf of Itron, Inc. Payments are made in one installment on August 30. Checks are mailed to each recipient’s home address and are made payable to the school for the student.
