Entry requirements

English Language requirements
All programs at RMIT University are taught in English, with each program having a minimum English entry requirement. Applications will need to include their English language test score (eg IELTS - Academic) with their application. If English is the first language, or has been studied at secondary or tertiary level, please note this on the application form.

Academic requirements
All programs have academic prerequisites which must be met before students can be accepted into a program. Program brochures list the minimum English and academic requirements.

Accommodation

RMIT University offers accommodation services to assist you to find short term, temporary and permanent accommodation.

Temporary accommodation - New international students often prefer to stay in temporary accommodation when they first arrive in Melbourne. This allows time to become familiar with the city and to find suitable and convenient permanent accommodation.

Permanent accommodation - There are many accommodation options near each campus and RMIT provides services and information to help you find permanent accommodation that will suit you. RMIT University does not offer on-campus accommodation.

Clubs and Societies

From the weird to the wonderful, there are over 100 clubs on campus ranging from program-based associations to general interest groups. Through the RMIT clubs and societies, activities include: social functions (skiing, surfing), camps (tours to central ), and conferences—just about anything to help students pursue their interests, whether they are religious, political, sporting, philosophical or just plain fun.

RMIT Village Old Melbourne

RMIT Village Old Melbourne is a 35 year old hotel that has been renovated to provide student accommodation. It provides a unique community environment for residents full of good food, excellent facilities and pleasant outdoor areas for dining and relaxation.

It is situated only 20 minutes walk, 5 - 10 minutes drive and a 5 minute tram ride from RMIT City campus and close to convenience stores. It is within walking distance of Melbourne’s Victoria Market and the cafĂ© society of North Melbourne and Lygon Street.

Facilities include: heated swimming pool, BBQ area, decking area, community area, laundry service, pool room, cafeteria, live Internet access, gym, security photo ID - key card access, conference room, business centre - computer access, and car-parking. It comprises 238 apartments and 454 student accommodation beds in the existing hotel-style rooms. Rooms are fully equipped with fridge, stove, microwave and rangehood, bath tub, shower, telephone, computer with flat screen monitors and Internet access, TV, large desk, wardrobe, bed and smoke detectors. Ninety five percent of the rooms have balconies. Current residents are approximately 70% local and 30% international students.
