ALLAHABAD: After the Arts faculty at Allahabad University invited protest from different quarters for not considering non-NET candidates for the guest faculty recruitment at 14 departments, the interview for the guest faculty in various departments of the science faculty scheduled to be held on August 29 and 30 could consider non-NET candidates too.
The issue of considering a non-NET PhD holder (of 2009 or before) at par with those qualifying National Eligibility Test (NET) when it comes to be considered eligible for guest faculty or any regular teaching position at AU had surfaced at AU last year too. While the selections in the Arts faculty had followed the norm of making NET as an essential qualification for the aspirants of guest faculty and non-PhD candidates not coming under eligibility criterion, the authorities of the Science faculty exempted the PhD candidates from NET and as such they were considered at par with NET.
This year too, while the interviews held for the 14 departments of the Arts faculty did not consider the non-NET candidates, the interviews that would be held for various departments of science faculty would probably consider the non-NET candidates.
The varsity authorities would be holding the selection committee (for guest faculty) on August 29 for the departments of Botany, Zoology and Biochemistry whereas on August 30, it would hold the selection committee for the guest faculty of the departments of Chemistry, Home Science and Biotechnology. Likewise, AU could hold the selection committees for the remaining departments of the science faculty on September 8 and 9.
