The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) invites applications for its certificate programme in Water Harvesting and Management. The Programme aims to generate mass awareness and dissemination of skills through trained human resources about rain water harvesting techniques and management for the optimal use of harvested water. The Programme would be essentially useful for those living in water scarce and drought-prone areas.

This six-month certificate Programme, keeping in view the mass base which it intends to cover, has the eligibility set at 10th pass or Bachelor’s Preparatory Programme. The fee is kept at Rs. 1,600.

Students after completion of this Programme can look for avenues of employment in various Government and Non-Governmental organisations dealing with Water Harvesting Projects, Urban Housing Board, Private Real Estate Builders, Soil Conservation Departments and Ground Water Boards, etc.

“In order to meet the ever-increasing demand for water in various sectors, both rural and urban, rainwater harvesting is of utmost importance today. This certificate programme will impart necessary skills and expertise to understand water harvesting techniques. The learners will be able to become trainers and organisers themselves at households and community levels for efficient water management in terms of its usage and conservation,” said Dr Sanjeev Pandey, programme coordinator and Regional Director, Delhi-I.
