IIIT – NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON IT 2009 – ALLAHABAD

National Workshop on Information Technology – Indian Institute of Information Technology – Allahabad

Introduction: Information Technology is the major driving component of knowledge revolution which has brought a sea change in the profile of management of university administration. However, the expansion has not been uniform throughout. Patches of excellence in ICT in the area of administration and examinations need to be enlarged in the emerging context both quantitatively and qualitatively which could facilitate the working process. University human resource management needs to be automated that could provide elements to simplify, improve and expedite the organization of their activities. Exchange of information, management of administrative records, handling of numerical data, meetings, planning and organization of work schedule now require latest technological support for their effective implementation.

Examination being one of the key functions of university system also needs urgent attention for its effective functioning through latest tools in general and in the areas of paper setting, scrutiny, development of database for question banks, panel of examiners, evaluation of answer sheets, announcement of result etc, in particular. All these aspects which are the sin qua non for augmenting e-governance, however, are still in a nascent stage. The higher education institutions have to attach utmost priority to this aspect, since the longer are delays, the larger the gap and the harder it will be to catch up. The present workshop is an endeavour to apprise the administrators of the higher educational institutions about the latest technologies as well as to provide them, a platform to exchange ideas, deliberate upon issues related to use of ICT in the management of university administration.

Methodology: Lectures, presentations and hands on practices to be followed by interaction among the participants.

Participation: Registrars/Controllers of Examinations/ Deputy Registrars, Finance Officers, PROs, Deputy Controllers of Examinations, Senior University Officers, and other officers entrusted with administrative/ examination related responsibilities.

Registration Fee: Registration fee is Rs.2500/- (Rupees two thousand five hundred only) payable to AIU, New Delhi. This fee covers the cost of stationery, seminar bags, working lunch, and tea during the sessions. The Registration Form along with the Demand Draft should reach Association of Indian Universities, AIU House, 16 Comrade Indrajit Gupta Marg, New Delhi – 110002 on or before December 15, 2009
