Existing IIMs ready to mentor upcoming IIMs



New Delhi: All existing Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are ready to offer all types of support for setting up six new IIMs in the country likely to be operational from this academic session.

The decision has been taken at a meeting held recently with R. P. Agrawal, Higher Education Secretary and IIM Directors.

The Central Government has decided to set up six IIMs in the states of Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Haryana during the XIIth five year plan.

Earlier a three member committee, comprising director of IIM Ahmedabad Prof. Sameer Barua, IIM Kolkata director Prof. Sekhar Chaudhury and IIT Kanpur Director Prof. S. G. Dhande, refused to mentor new IIMs.
