Med varsity ties up with eye hospital

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Dr MGR medical university and Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital will launch a joint fellowship programme soon to train post-graduate students in ophthalmology on treatment of retina and cornea.

Inaugurating 'Kalpavriksha' a continuing medical education programme of of Dr Agarwal's Eye Hospital on Thursday, Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University vice-chancellor Mayil Vahanan Natarajan said medical curriculum has to be changed to suit the changing global scenario.

The varsity's tie-up with Dr Agarwal's hospital is a pioneering step in this direction, he added. Hospital chairman Amar Agarwal said the four-day 'Kalpavriksha' programme would bring together more than 35 medical colleges to interact with experts in ophthalmology on the latest surgical techniques in ophthalmology. tnn It will also conduct a mock examination for medical students, set on the diploma of national board pattern of examination which comprises objective structured clinical examination and clinical discussion examination.
