DU to come out with two more cut-offs for OBCs

New Delhi: Delhi University colleges will soon come out with two more cutoff lists which will be issued only for OBC students. This was stated in a directive by the varsity on Tuesday and this supersedes all other related orders. In the five-point directive, DU also asked colleges to communicate to the registrar fresh cutoffs exclusively for the OBC category for those courses having unfilled OBC seats and in which the relaxation of marks stipulated for OBC candidates compared to general category aspirants is still less than 10%.

The registrar will notify the sixth cutoff list for the OBC candidates on Thursday. Admission and payment of fees will take place on July 15 and 16. DU vice-chancellor Dinesh Singh said that they have freeze conversions of the unfilled seats as a clarification on the issue is much awaited. So the colleges will continue accepting OBC candidates. Moreover, the full 10% relaxation has to be exhausted.

A seventh cutoff will be released only if OBC seats remained unfilled and only for those courses in which the 10% relaxation has not yet been exhausted. The list will be notified on July 17, and admission and payment of fees for the seventh cut off list will take place on July 18 and 19.

Colleges which have just a few unfilled OBC seats also has to keep the admission process open will not be able to convert the seats till further notice even after July 19. Meera Ramachandran, principal, Gargi College, said that they have exhausted most of the OBC seats and have also offered the 10%relaxation. There are a few seats left and if they remain unfilled even after Wednesday, they will, as per the university directives, keep them open for the OBC aspirants

Even before the university directives, some colleges decided not to convert the seats to general category to balance out the excess admission and end the admission process itself. Now these colleges will have to keep the admission for the OBC candidates open till July 19.
