Introduction : PGDM is the Two Years Full Time flagship Programme of EDI. It is one of the most popular Programmes at EDI and ranks amongst the very best across the top B-schools in India. EDI prides itself for the learning experience imparted in this Programme. Since this programme is a twinning programme the students will be offered two certificates at a time (PGDM and MBA from Maharshi Dayanad University, Rohtak). The Maharshi Dayanand University , Rohtak, is recognised by UGC, AIU, Ministry of HRD, DEC & Govt. of India Since the university is located in the jurisdiction of Haryana, the programme is approved by DEC which is offre through the Directorate of Distance Education and the Regular class are conducted by Economic Development Institute, Bhubaneswar.
Curriculum : The PGDM Curriculum design and pedagogy emphasizes the development of students’ skills and abilities to apply management theories and concepts to live problems in business and industry. Students are expected to achieve high standards of excellence. Teaching methods include – lectures, case studies, seminars, group discussions, business games, outbound based experiential learning activities, educational excursion, role plays, simulation exercises, structured and unstructured group work, and field visits. The emphasis is on involving the students in learning and helping them to relate concepts and theories to business requirements. Consistent with advances in teaching technology, the Programme integrates the use of computers in learning and the basic principles in different functional areas of management. It also enables students to acquire skills in identifying and dealing with complex problems in management, especially in this era of globalization of industrial and commercial activity and the resulting intense competition. The students also undertake several field-based projects so that they can get better insights into the workplace reality. The curriculum is revised on an ongoing basis through discussions with practicing managers from the industry to reflect current business needs. The Programme designed by EDI in PGDM is beyond providing the platform for the students get access to the companies for getting job, rather the key to this Programme is to create future leaders.
Eligibility : The candidate applying at EDIB must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalents CGPA in any discipline of any of the universities incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a university under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or posses an equivalent qualification obtained by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent. In case of the candidates being awarded Grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained bachelor’s degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for diving obtained CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by EDIB by diving obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant with 100. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the bachelor’s degree (or equivalent examination) can also apply, subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by 15th October, 2008; or else they may be asked to withdraw from the program.
Selection Procedure : The prospective students will be short listed on the basis of scores of MAT/CAT/XAT/ATMA/FAT, with sectional cut off and thereafter situational Group Discussions (GD), Personal Interview (PI), and presentation on any asked topic. Those who are not having any of the above score they have to appear for Fundamental aptitude Test(FAT) that will be conducted at the ailed centers and at our own corporate office. Final Selection is on the basis of MAT/CAT/XAT/ATMA/E-FAT Score, Performance in the GD/PI/Presentation, Academic Performance & Work experience etc.
Scholarships : There are three merit scholarships Rs. 10,000/- each available for the top three students who perform best in their batch. L. N. Prasad Scholarship of up to Rs. 50,000/ – for the out standing student. The scholarship will be given to the student who will perform well in academics but having low financial Status.
Application Procedure : The students must bring the two set of Photocopies of all the documents along with the originals for verification, five pass port size photographs, Cash / DD of Rs. 750/- in favour of “ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE, BHUBANESWAR”, payable at Bhubaneswar to the interview.
